Gill Taylor is a settler on Treaty 7 lands, in Mohkinstsis (“Calgary”). They are a masters student at the University of Calgary and a lover of all things handmade.

The love of sewing started early on, learning from their mom and other members of their maternal family. Gill sewed their high school graduation dress (with lots of help). They got back into sewing with a vengence in the summer of 2022 and have since worked on numerous projects. Sewing offers a beautiful medium through which to make custom pieces that they feel more accurately represent who they are.

Gill started taking pottery lessons in January, 2022 at Mud Urban Potters and fell in love with the craft. They have since thrown (hehe) themselves into pottery and making all sorts of ceramic bowls, bodies and more. Gill particularly enjoys rethinking Renaissance-style pottery from a queer and trans perspective.
