Welcome to my website. I was using this to document my travels, but I am slowly phasing it over to use as a portfolio for my sewing and ceramic work.

Mondays don't suck.

Mondays don't suck.

I really need to get better at this whole blogging thing.

I don't know how people do it, blogging on a regular basis. I find it absolutely impossible. First of all, how do you make the time, secondly, who even cares about any of this? My life's no more interesting than yours. And, in some ways, I am positively archaic - says the millenial. I like writing things down on paper. I often think how much better it would be if I could type my notes for class on my laptop, but I am the sort of person that needs penned notes to refer back to. It's me. I'm the one behind global warming.

On that note, I listened to an incredibly interesting Cracked podcast episode, How 2 Scientists You’ve Never Heard Of Redesigned Our Planet, in which Alex Schmidt interviews Charles C. Mann, the author of The Wizard and the Prophet: Two Remarkable Scientists and Their Dueling Visions to Shape Tomorrow's World. (Was that too many commas??) The book is about Norman Borlaug and William Vogt, who sit on opposing sides of the debate on how to deal with the ever-expanding number of humans on this planet. Borlaug is of the belief that the way to approach the problem is to just make more. More food, more irrigation systems, more GMOs. Vogt, however, is the original proponent of "reduce, recycle, reuse." Instead of just making more food for the 10 billion people that will occupy earth in 32 years, we should learn how better to use and divide our resources. Plant different types of crops in one area, maybe don't take Colorado's water over to California, that sort of thing. It is a very informative and interesting episode and I would recommend it!

Other than listening to podcasts, I have been desperately trying to stay on top of my school readings (dense archaeological articles about hunter-gatherers), properly learn German, read Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, fly and still watch Netflix and Ted Talks (?!!?). Why. I made an appointment with a Student Success Advisor at the University about how to better manage my time. Have any of you heard of the SMART study method? Have you tried it? Does it or something else work for you? I'm trying to get a hand on all of it, so I graciously welcome any tips and tricks.

I flew to Frankfurt this weekend for the first time since Christmas. It was actually quite nice. I walked around Mainz and the city park for about 5 hours. One of the first times I had a layover there, I found this cute little vintage shop, and have wanted to check it out ever since, but every time it's been closed. This time it was finally open and I checked it out and chatted with the lovely owner, Jana. She also let me take some photos. She's so cute!

The shop is called Janablume Vintage and her instagram handle is @janablume-vintage. She has great taste and great daily inspo! Just a very cool lady.

Anything else I should update you on? Oh, there were a ton of Paralympic athletes on my flight from Frankfurt - Calgary. They were some very cool people. A lot of fun to talk to and joke with, and I wish them the best in the competitions and upcoming Paralympic games!

I also really want to start a podcast. Probably archaeology/anthropology related, but I need a partner in chime! Know anyone that would be interested??

Happy Monday and have a good week, friends.

xoxo
